Ryoko was born and grew up in Japan; the home of Shiatsu.

“I have lived in three different countries before I came to Australia, which made me richer, aware about, and open to different cultures and values.

I love learning each day to grow personally and professionally. My passion lies in providing people with a safe and relaxing space, with cares from my heart, where you can leave everything behind, to be yourself, and to feel into your body.

I discovered “qi” (or "chi", pronounced ‘Chee’) first when I was unwell about twenty five years ago.
After my mother’s sudden passing in 2010, I started Qi-gong exercises at home and it became a great source of solace and also a routine to support my busy life raising two young children. That gave me insight into what matters about health in life and then grew into a big passion to study more about wellbeing in a holistic approach.

Then I became a qualified Shiatsu Therapist, after completing the Diploma of Shiatsu and Oriental Therapies at the Australian Shiatsu College.”

”The best thing about Shiatsu is how it nurtures both the body and the mind, offering a sense of total care that aligns perfectly with my deep belief in the power of self-care.”

Shiatsu is beneficial for a wide range of internal, musculoskeletal, and emotional conditions. It’s also perfect for those moments when you're feeling overwhelmed by work or study and just need to unplug, find stillness, and unwind from the busyness of life. Come see me and experience a personalized session of care, thoughtfully designed just for you.“

What Ryoko loves about Shiatsu:

  • The treatment is 100% tailored to the needs of each individual on each visit.
There are no identical encounters; the importance lies in cherishing each moment and being present.

  • The pressure of Shiatsu is gentle to the depth of fascia, and it can help people both physically and mentally by releasing stress.

  • It sees a body as a whole, in harmony with the nature.

  • It is a natural way to health and well-being without any chemicals.

  • It reminds us of the healing power of touch.

  • The treatment is done on futon on the floor, feeling grounded close to the ground.

  • You don’t have to take off clothes.

What is Ume?
Why Ume Shiatsu?

About Ume Shiatsu

Originally introduced from China,
Ume (梅) - the Japanese plum has played an important role in Japanese culture for many centuries.

The plum is associated with the start of spring, because plum blossoms are some of the first blossoms to open during the year.

Ume blossom symbolizes vitality, hope, and renewal. It is born of the bitter cold of winter and reminds its observers that spring will soon arrive.

Just as the blossom must endure much hardship in order to become a thing of beauty, so we as people develop inner strength and admirable qualities with the passage of time.

Not only the beautiful flower and its fragrance, Ume plum fruit also has many health benefits, including antioxidant properties, and is used in many dishes and drinks in Japan.

And finally, the logo is created by Ryoko’s teenager son based upon the stylised ume flower in the Japanese family crest of her family.

That reflects her strong belief in health, endurance, and that we should live in line with the changes of the seasons.

About the card

【 指 圧】

The letters, 指 圧 on the card are pronounced / read 'Shi-atsu' literally meaning "Finger pressure" in Japanese.

Meaning of the KANJI “指圧”

Why I chose this colour?

“In the process, I made dozens of different prototypes in various Japanese traditional shades to come to decide upon this particular colour - Entan Iro.”

The Entan-Iro has been used in the primer for buildings including temples and shrines since ancient times, because of its anti-corrosion properties. It is also known as one of the oldest pigments, stored in the grounds of the famous Todaiji temple in Nara city.

“It took so many months to decide the name and the design out of many prototypes. The card expresses my core values. With this card, I can always come back to the reason why I chose this career.
I believe this card represents my identity, sharing my being with each person I encounter in the future.”
